Recently, it occurred to me that although I
introduced myself to you as a Divorce Coach, I never fully
explained what a Divorce Coach is.
You know what a soccer coach is. And you may have heard about
life coaches and the newest perk— executive coaches. But what’s
a Divorce Coach? …someone who stands in your corner as you ‘slug
it out’ with your spouse?
Well, not quite. The Divorce Coach is
solidly in your corner, but most likely a Divorce Coach comes
into your life after the ‘slugfest’: when you’ve settled the
legal issues, although possibly still grappling with the
emotional ones. The Divorce Coach’s job is to help you rebuild
your life after divorce. She’ll help you not just survive the
divorce, but flourish (!) after it.
Like all coaches, a Divorce Coach is
someone who knows the process and the dynamics of what you’re
going through and is fully committed to getting you to the other
side of it. Your Divorce Coach wholeheartedly believes that
there is a rich, productive life ahead. What’s more, a Divorce
Coach has the tools and strategies to enable you to create such
a life.
Unlike a therapist who looks back at past
problems that might have contributed to your divorce, Divorce
Coaches focus entirely on the future. They help you set life
goals that are realistic, time-bound and can actually be
measured. They work with you to create an Action Plan that will
definitely get you the life you want - and then hold your hand
as you take the biggest small steps you can take to achieve your
goal.
A Divorce Coach will walk you through the
crucial tasks to create your new life - to develop a future rich
with possibility. …..And a Divorce Coach shortens the learning
curve. You’ll be well on your way to creating the life you’ve
always wanted—in months, not years.
